I recommend drinking wight to twelve glasses (or two three liters) of alkaline water per day to experience optimal benefits. Don't make a fast switch, though transition slowly but mixing up your alkaline water intake with regular water while you get used to the changes your body's pH levels.

Alkaline water is a very popular health fad however, this will have no beneficial effect on your body. Your body has many powerful buffer systems that help to maintain the pH levels throughout the body therefore, even if you consume alkaline water it will not change the pH of your body but only the pH of your urine. This could over time contribute to urinary tract infection formation and progression.

Excessive drinking of alkaline water may lead to alkalosis. Alkalosis may be characterized by nausea and vomiting amongst other symptoms. There is no firm conclusion supporting the efficacy of alkaline water, but the side effects are known. It would be good not to take it everyday.
